A Sleaford darts player is all set to appear on the world stage when he takes on the Scottish National Champion at Alexandra Palace later this month.

Jason Marriott, 25, won through a qualifying competition in Sheffield before winning the regional and then the Team Protege’s PDC English National Final in Stoke last week.

He emerged from 64 players to beat Nigel ‘Nutty’ Birch in the final 6-3.

He now faces Matt Goldie, the Scottish National Champion on December 23 on the stage of the Professional Darts Corporation’s World Championships, meaning his match may be televised.

Jason said: “This is probably the best moment I have had in darts so far but playing on the world championships stage - it doesn’t get much better than that.”

He admitted he had never come across Matt Goldie before and so did not know what to expect: “I have never played him before and don’t know anything about him, so I’ve just been keeping an eye on the updates.”

Unemployed Jason is hoping to turn professional next year and is looking for sponsors. Anyone interested in helping can contact him by email: jmarriott2000@gmail.com
