Spalding HC Second XI 1-3 Leadenham HC First XI

With both teams hovering just above the relegation zone, Leadenham served up a crucial win against fellow strugglers Spalding.

The visitors started strongly and won a penalty corner within the first 10 minutes which was converted by David Nelstrop as Leadenham forged an early lead.

In the following 20 minutes Leadenham pressed high, causing problems for Spalding and allowing Jack Ashton to score two further goals as the away side went in 3-0 up at half-time.

The second half saw Spalding fight back with some impressive play, but they only managed to score one goal and the three points went to the away team. A solid defensive display from Ben Lane earned him the man-of-the-match accolade.

* The Leadenham Hockey Club has just kitted out its junior development team as part of on-going sponsorship from Lincolnshire family-run businesses Mid UK Recycling and Mountain Skip Hire.

Club chairman Ross Booth said: “We are extremely appreciative to Mid UK Recycling and Mountain Skip Hire for their ongoing sponsorship of Leadenham Hockey Club.

“They’ve generously sponsored us for the past seven years and as a young club this money has been invaluable for us to develop our men’s, ladies’ and junior teams.”

Mid UK Recycling and Mountain Skip Hire are run by the Mountain family and have sites at Caythorpe and Ancaster.
