Club

Ruskington Bowls Club picked up 10 points in the Lincoln and District League when they defeated Monks Road WMC at home.

David Miller, Kath Booth and John Hurst finished 11-21 down but George Freeland, Jock Mitchell and Paul Butterworth won 24-14.

George Glover, Trevor Thackray and John Booth romped home 30-14 while Wendy Pateman, Jackie Ray and Sue Mitchell lost by one shot, going down 13-14.

In the Cliff League, Ruskington travelled to face Leadenham, where they were beaten 6-4 overall.

Andy Snoxell, John Booth and Tony Codd won 23-11 and Trevor Harding, George Glover and Keith Pilbeam also did the business, finishing 19-12 up.

Not everything went the team’s way as David Miller, Jim Matson and Sue Mitchell lost 11-28 and Jock Mitchell, Trevor Thackray and Jackie Ray lost 10-26.

The Knockout Cup first round saw Ruskington travel to face Eagle.

As Ruskington were defending Premier Division Champions from last season, the format saw the hosts handed a 12-shots start.

On a tiny green and troubled by rain, David Miller, Trevor Harding and Tony Codd won 19-12, but Les Jenkins, Trevor Thackray and Jim Barclay went down 11-14 and John Booth, Kath Booth and Jim Matson were outclassed in a contest which ended 9-22.

Sleaford Town

Bowls Club

Sleaford Town were narrowly beaten at home to Washingborough in the District League.

Rink wins were shared with the visitors taking the aggregate by two shots 87-89 and an overall points score of 10-4.

Winning for the town were Julie Cope, Joan Gilbert and Phil Musson 30-16 and Jackie Wareham, Catherine Frain and B. Gilbert 28-18, while Robin Wilson, Roger Neaver, Larry Davies, and Derek Smith won 38-9 and Martin Titley, Kris Moore, Phil Musson and Andrew Bird won 37-3.
