Stamford under 15s 14
Sleaford under 15s 54
Remembrance Sunday commitments for a number of the squad combined with injuries and illness meant the under 15s were travelling light and the planned starting line-up needed tweaking.
Sleaford started with commitment, support and a driving desire. No surprise when the first try came early as a result of direct running lines, superb support and generous off-loading.
Tackling was back to normal, contests at the breakdown were strong, decision making was logical and the team were operating as one unit. Attacks turned into tries and the points started to rack up. Only thing really missing in the first half were conversions.
Stamford kept trying to build attacks but Sleaford were just too strong. Tackle after tackle stopped Stamford in their tracks combined with the driving effort at the breakdown. The effort to keep the Sleaford scoreline in check finally took its toll and Stamford found a gap in front of the posts.
Sleaford kicked off the second half sluggishly, but then a burst of energy saw Sleaford charging up the field again. Stamford put together a number of positive forward drives but Sleaford stood firm, breaking out on occasion to keep their score line ticking over. Stamford did find their way over the Sleaford line on one more occasion but it was Sleaford’s day.
