The men’s A and B teams both started their league season with wins, the A team defeating Spalding 5-1 at home, and the B team winning 3.5–2.5 at Boston.

The mixed handicap team, meanwhile, halved at home to Burghley Park, while the seniors’ team gained a pleasing half at Boston GC.

The ladies’ May Brown Salver was won by Karen Hix with nett 72 on countback from Carol Brinkworth.

The seniors’ Greylees Trophy on Thursday was won by Ian Chappell with 40 points, pipping Walt Drayton, also on 40.

Simon Shaw won the men’s May stableford with 44 points, while Kev Blow and Gary Doran won their divisions in the Bank Holiday Medal, both with nett 67.

Rhys Mayers and Stuart Sedman won their respective divisions in the midweek stablefords, each with 38 points.

* Entries for Sleaford Cricket Club’s 17th annual Golf Day are now being accepted.

The event, on Friday, June 17, is expected to attract more than 20 teams of four.

In addition to the Bristol Cup, more than £500 of prizes are on offer.

Proceeds go towards coaching and supporting the cricket club’s five junior teams.
