Sleaford Indoor Bowls Club’s over 60s team travelled to Lincoln and found it difficult to get to grips with the very much faster green, winning on only one of the rinks.
D Stobart, with K Dowling, P Bacon and L Richardson, took time to find the length in the early stages of their game but enjoyed a much better second half when they were able to match their hosts. However, they could not overcome the first half deficit and lost out 10–27.
D Chandley’s set of D Hocking, J Thomas and H Smyth had been there before and were unlucky to lose out at the death after being ahead for most of their game. They were finally edged out 18–19.
T Stanley’s set of R Barnes, P Lowder and L Davies made a good start and were well in the game until they lost their way in the middle section. In the end they went down a disappointing 16–24.
F Colin, P Annison, K Whiteside and M Wareham, won a fair share of ends but they were unable to prevent some high-scoring ends from their opponents and were well defeated 13–34.
A Bristow’s set of D Woods, T Thackray and R Pearson showed how it should be done with a magnificent display, consistently out-scoring their opponents to run out very worthy winners, 27–10.
Two points were enough for Sleaford to stay top of their table, but their nearest rivals have played two fewer games, so better results will be needed if the team is to stay up there.
