Syd was a friendly and well-liked club member and was a regular player at social tennis evenings before passing away in 2014.

Club members young and old joined Syd’s own family and friends to celebrate the third tournament held in his honour.

The tournament has become one of the club’s most popular annual fixtures and this year’s proud singles winners were Kathy Kinnard and Tom McDonnell.

Syd’s family were there to present a silver plate, they have kindly donated, to the winning team members and individual prizes to players.

The tournament raised £80 which will be donated to a leukaemia charity Syd supported.

It capped a busy week for Sleaford Tennis Club which also saw the men’s team celebrate a win against Rushton Tennis Club as well as the first Great British Tennis Weekend event of the year when locals were able to try tennis for free.
