Sleaford Town Runners hit the marathon trail

A quartet of Sleaford Town Runners headed for London to tackle one of the world’s biggest marathons.

Michael Baxter was first back for the club in 3hr 37min 11secs, closely followed by Chris Balfe (3.39.43).

Sarah Whatton was next back in 5hr 21min 44secs, with Mike Folland home in 5.44.23.

* Conditions were perfect as a Sleaford TR contingent made the shirt hop to the Boston Full and Half Marathon.

Sarah Whatton was the only one from the club to take on the marathon distance and completed it in 5hr 33mins.

The rest of the runners completed the half-marathon and the times were Carl Winwood 1hr 35min 09secs, Ana Hendrickson 1.48.23, Gary Hendrickson 1.48.23, Tracy Parr 2.00.13, Alistair Whitaker 2.00.45, while Shaun Louth walked the distance in 3.27.17.

* Eight club members travelled To Thoresby Hall, near Ollerton, for the Longhorn running event.

Helen Barker ran in the marathon event and finished smiling as always in 6hr 21min 39secs, and Jayne MacArthur had an earlier start than all the others by taking part in the 60km ultra marathon and finished in 7hr 57min 25secs to take first place in her category.

Six took on the half-marathon.
