Sleaford triathlete Kerri completes debut marathon

It was the busiest weekend of the year for Tri3 Sleaford Triathlon Club with juniors and seniors competing across the region.

Sisters Georgia (Tristar2) and Katie Lancaster (Tristar3) competed at Duston Junior Triathlon, in Northamptonshire, and both girls performed well.

Georgia finished 13th in a field of 50, while Katie was eighth place out of 38.

* A 13-strong group of seniors were in action at the Southwell Sprint Triathlon, tackling a 400m swim, 18km bike and 5km run.

It was the first of three events in the Midlands Sprint Series which many of the club’s members are hoping to complete.

* Husband and wife team, Barbara and Simon Campbell took part in the Etape Loch Ness – a 106km cycle sportive around the iconic Loch Ness, starting and finishing in Inverness with 5,200 riders taking part.

* Kerri Shore (pictured) completed her first-ever marathon at the Virgin London Marathon on Sunday in a great time of 4hr 1min, while Dean Wilkinson, raising money for the Jon Egging Trust, managed the 26.2 miles in an amazing 3hr 22mins.

* The club will be hosting a series of three aquathons (400m swim followed by a 5km run) which are open to everyone from experienced athlete to novice.

They take place on Monday, May 15, Monday, June 19 and Monday, July 17 at Sleaford Leisure Centre with registration from 6.15pm.

Entry is open to anyone from age eight upwards with junior distances according to age. It costs £7 for adults and £5 for juniors.
