Striders collect a series of medals

The junior and senior sections of Sleaford Striders demonstrated that they are not just a road running club, earning some fantastic results at the Grantham Track and Field competition.

A total of 21 medals were won by the athletes taking part, including six golds, five silvers and 10 bronzes.

Gold medals were won by Euan Owen (under 13 shot), Bethan Owen (under 20 800m), James Hebden (under 15 long jump), Tom Wilkinson (under 13 javelin), Iain Bailey (senior men 5,000m) and Chris Bertins (senior men 800m).

Silvers were earned by Erin Disdell (under 13 shot), Jack James (under 15 800m), Charlotte Bailey (under 13 discus), James Hebden (under 15 high jump) and Cerys Chapman (under 15 1,500m).

Bronze medals were won by Jack James (under 15 long jump), Euan Owen (under 13 100m and under 13 high jump), Bethan Owen (under 20 100m and long jump), Alicia Costa (under 13 200m), Tom Wilkinson (under 13 boys 200m), Charlotte Bailey (under 13 high jump), Ella Owen (under 15 high jump) and Erin Disdell (under 13 long jump).

Striders’ Matt Lennard competed in the undulating Uttoxeter half marathon, completing the 13-mile course in 1 hr 49 mins 29 secs.

Alan Buckberry and Sally Hollick competed in the Eye 10k, with Alan finishing in 48 mins 17 secs and Sally in 1 hr 01 mins 22 secs.

Andy Dickinson completed the King’s Lynn 10k in 43 mins 47 secs.
