TAE KWON-DO: Sleaford’s Frances wins bronze at English Championships

Frances Arnold, of Sleaford Tae Kwon-Do Club won bronze in the ladies’ red belt sparring at the TAGB English Championships.

Meanwhile, her 15-year-old daughter Rose put on a fine performance in her first competition as a black belt female cadet in the patterns division and narrowly missed out on a trophy, but finished in the top six in the event.

The championships attracted more than 1,500 competitiors and was held at the University of Worcester Arena. The next tournament for the club will be the Lincolnshire County Tae Kwon-Do Championships held at Grantham Meres sports centre in May.

At the recent club promotion grading, under the guidance of ninth degree black belt Grandmaster David Oliver, local students results were as follows: 1st Kup Red Belt – Philip Lee; 3rd Kup Blue Belt – Charlotte Lee, Yashodha Silva; 4th Kup Blue Belt – Aaron Daly-Lines, Rebecca Fields, Angran Yue, Zoe Green, Yixin Xie, Thomas Bartle; 5th Kup Green Belt – Viidhu Silva, Jennifer Groves, Joshua McKenna; 6th Kup Green Belt – Steven Evans, Ethan Hague-Wright, Bernard Dakins; 7th Kup Yellow Belt – Finlay McLachlan, Sammy Zakaria, James Williams, Thomas Welsh; 8th Kup Yellow Belt – Frankie Newton, Alice Evans, Lisa Jackman; 9th Kup White Belt – Finlay Drayton, Paige Williams, Daniel Tyler, Peter Rajesh, Alex Sheldon, India Lee.
