Town produce a four-some haul

AT home to Branston in the city league on Monday evening, the town bowlers won on all four rinks with a score of 97-58 and 14 points.

P Annison, P Jobson and T Cope won 30-12, J Parker, D Curt and D Smith won 25-14, N Mapletoft, R Lupton and A Bird won 17-14 and M Titley, R Markham and R Barnes won 25-18.

Away at St Giles in the District league, only one rink win in a game lost 69-105, and two points.

The winning rink was R Wilson, J Cope and R Markham 22-19. M Jarrald, R Neaverson and M Wareham lost 17-27, N Mapletoft, J Gilbert and P Musson lost 12-38 and C Frain, J Wareham and B Gilbert lost 18-21.

Playing Moorlands in the Drifil trophy on a two home and away format, the town lost 67-78.

Away the rink of M Titley, J Parker and D Smith won 20-15, P Musson, M Wareham and A bird lost 10-30. At home, the rink of R Lupton, P Jobson and T Cope won 20-15 and N Mapletoft, R Markham and R Barnes drew 17 all.

Playing at home against Heckington in the Wednesday afternoon league, the town won on one rink and lost on two, gaining only two points.

At home on Thursday night in the Sleaford league against the Bristol club in a rain reduced match, three rink wins and one loss with the town winning the aggregate score 69-46 and eight points.

P Adkins, M Jarrald and D Curt won 16-7, R Bird, A Upsall and J Parker won 17-11, L Jobson, S Morris and P Annison lost 10-14 and L Morris, K Hopwood and A Bird won 15-14.

Away at Rustons sports in the EBA League, the town lost 48-54 an done rink win gave them just two points.

J Parker, M Jarrald, R Lupton and D Smith lost 20-22, M Titley, R Neaverson, P Musson and A Bird won 17-12 and P Annison, K Dye, M Wareham and R Markham lost 11-20.

In the county finals day on Saturday at Vacu-Lug green, A Bird beat B Welbourn in the semi final 21-10 and in the final, he beat K Marshall of Perry Sports 21-17 to win the two-wood weigall cup and qualified to represent the county in the national finals at Skegness in August.

The Presidents Day competition will be played at the town green on Sunday August 12. Entries to P Annison by Wednesday August 7.

Morning start will be notified to entrants, and there will be refreshments and a raffle.
