Webster and Hilton were shield winners

THE Senior Captain’s Shield was won by the much fancied pairing of John Webster and Phil Hilton, who scored 44 points.

In second place were the in form Des Heyes and Frank Wyke with 43. Taking third place on a count-back were Alan Rock and Duncan Herd on 42.

n The Ladies’ Open Charity AM-AM attracted a large field and the Sleaford four ball of Joy Young, Joan Carpenter, Val Clark and Peg Tacey, who were the first group in the competition to play, scored 85 points and must have thought they had secured first place with only one game to finish.

However, a team which included the county ladies’ captain, Cindy Ireland and ladies from Blankney and Woodhall Spa took the honours with a fine 88.

n The September Stableford attracted one of the largest fields of the year. Overall winner was Craig Dixon with an excellent 45 points playing off a handicap of 17.

Mick Wright, playing off 15, took second place with 44. The winner in Division One was Martin Orley on 42, with Mark Hodson taking second place on 41. Dan Hare and Josh Taylor shared third place with 40.

n A field of 89 golfers contested the J W Hall Memorial Cup Competition. Rhys Mayers took first place with a net 63 off a handicap of 8. In Division One, Kev Blankney was second with 67 (77-10), while Gerry Walsh, Oliver Harrod and James Wickson, all with net 69, took the minor places.

In Division Two, Kev Parker and Ian Addlesee both returned net 66s. Tom Challoner (net 68) and Dave Pell and Dave Nicholls (each with net 69) completed the prize list.
