City slickers

The weather has disrupted play for the club last week, but Ruskington Bowls Club have managed to complete three fixtures.

The first was a home match in the City (Evening) League against Monks Road.

Wendy Pateman, with Carol Croft and Jim Barclay, won 26-20.

Paul Butterworth, with Trevor Harding and John Hurst, fell victims to a good Monks Road set and lost 13-30.

David Miller ‘s set of Kath Booth and Graham Croft restored fortunes with a solid 28-15 victory including a five at a critical moment which seemed to crumble their opponents.

The fourth set of Tony Codd, with Les Wilkinson and Keith Pilbeam, just missed out losing 20-21, but scored a single on the final end which gave the aggregate 87-86 and 10 league points.

Ruskington hosted Cherry Willingham in the Lincoln and District League.

Tony Codd, with Trevor Harding and Trevor Thackray, lost 13-18.

John Booth’s set of Les Wilkinson and Les Warren managed a draw 16-16, and Wendy Pateman’s set of Kath Booth and Sue Mitchell also drew 14-14.

David Miller’s set of Cecil Hall and Lin Clifton were crushed 8-34, leading to just two league points in a match curtailed by rain.

The final match was a home fixture in the City (Afternoon) League against Nettleham.

A good result saw all three sets winning.

Jim Motson, with Jim Barclay and Les Warren, won 21-15.

John Booth, with Wendy Pateman and John Hurst, lost the first five ends but pulled back well and finished 17-15 up.

Lastly. Les Jenkins, with Les Wilkinson and Sue Mitchell, had a close game which was not reflected in the score.

However, they won 22-10 for all 10 league points.
