Here Nigel Bark, PGA qualified professional at Sleaford Golf Club, looks at how to keep your game going through the winter months...

Winter is just around the corner but this is not the time to despair but look forward to keeping your golf going.

There are always lots of promotions on winter greenfees in the area and this provides a great chance for everyone to take advantage of some cheaper golf and experience some of the courses in the area. If you’re a member at a club take advantage of the winter league competition, a great way to keep your game going in a fun, competitive way.

But remember to be prepared for your winter golf! It goes without saying that keeping warm is the key; compression garments, winter mitts and woolly hats are a must. Don’t forget to service your equipment too, new or well kept grips make it more comfortable to hold your club with cold hands, while new spikes will help your grip in the damper conditions.

Winter can be a great time to improve your technique while there are fewer events to compete in; your club professional is there to
help you!

Make sure you get out in the winter to play. Practising will help your game and improve your chances of playing well in summer. And remember when you’re struggling through the cold conditions..spring will soon be here
again.
