A BASKETBALL team from Carre’s Grammar School in Sleaford will be representing the county next month.

Carre’s recently won the Under 16 Basketball Level 3 School Games Competition at Grantham, beating off teams from Boston Grammar School and De Aston School in Market Rasen.

The Carre’s team will now go forward to represent Lincolnshire in the regional tournament, which will be held next month. They will be competing against the qualifiers from Nottinghamshire.

Top scorer and Carre’s captain, 15-year-old Luke Jones, said: “It went really well, we all came together as a team and the results showed.

“The competition was tough, which you would expect, but we stuck together and pushed on through.”

Gareth Short, school games project officer at Lincolnshire Sports Partnership, said: “All of the teams in the under-16 competition were fantastic. It was great to see so many schoolchildren taking part and having fun.”
