Fifth win puts Harvey back on
top of F3 championship

A FIFTH win of the season for Lincolnshire racing driver Jack Harvey has put him back on top of the overall standings in the Cooper Tires British Formula 3 Championship.
Racing at Snetterton at weekend, the Racing Steps Foundation-backed driver, from Bassingham, leads the championship once again with just two rounds left.
Harvey claimed a double pole for the weekend and his eighth pole position of the season so far.
Heavy rain delayed the start of the first race on Saturday but once underway Harvey made a perfect start despite the tricky wet conditions and, keeping a cool head, he controlled the race from the front.
Further rain saw driving conditions deteriorate and the race was red flagged with Harvey in the lead, giving him fifth victory of the season.
Harvey lined up for race two in 12th position for the reverse grid race. He drove strong race to move up to fourth at the chequered flag.
On Sunday afternoon, Harvey lined up in pole position for the final race of the weekend on a wet grid. After a difficult start, he dropped to third by turn one and, struggling for pace in the wet conditions, he saw Sainz and Serralles pulling away.
As the track began to dry, the handling of Harvey’s car improved and the Carlin driver set a series of fastest laps. He closed in on the leading duo in the later stages but ran out of laps to challenge them for position and crossed the finish line in third place; his ninth podium of the year.
Harvey said: “We came away from Snetterton with mixed feelings. Two pole positions and a fourth is a great result but at the same time it’s disappointing that we didn’t have the pace to get another win in race three. We were really quick when the track began to dry but struggled in the wet.”
He added: “We now head to the final two rounds of the championship at Silverstone and Donnington. These are two of my favourite tracks.”
Harvey will be in action in the penultimate round of the championship at Silverstone on September 8.
