SIR William Robertson High School, Welbourn won the under-14 Basketball Level 3 School Games Competition at Grantham.

They defeated a team from Boston High School to win the event.

Lucy Willets, basketball development officer at Lincolnshire Sports Partnership, said: “The teams involved in the under-14 girls’ county final were brilliant, there were some very talented players showing excellent skills.

“The players supported and encouraged each other and there was a really good atmosphere.

“It was great to see girls participating in basketball and enjoying the competition, as basketball is a male dominated sport in Lincolnshire.

“Hopefully many of the girls will go on and join local community basketball clubs and continue playing the sport regularly.’

Sir William Robertson High School will now go on to represent Lincolnshire in the regional tournament next month against the qualifiers from Nottinghamshire.
