Lincolnshire racing driver Jack Harvey took part in the prestigious Macau Formula Three Grand Prix.

It was the 30th running of this historic F3 race, which is recognised amongst racing drivers as one of the top street circuits in the world.

British F3 champion Harvey was one of seven drivers competing at the event for Carlin Racing.

The Bassingham driver posted the ninth fastest lap time of the free practice session.

After qualifying in 13th place for the Saturday event, Harvey drove a solid race to finish 12th.

For the main race the following day, Harvey lined up in 12th place on the grid and worked his way up to 11th before he was tapped by another car which caused his front wing to work loose.

It eventually came off and Harvey was forced into the pits on lap twelve. With only three laps left, the decision was made by the team to retire Harvey from the race.

He said: “It was a really great experience racing at Macau.

“Driving on the track it’s clear to see why it’s one of the most iconic race tracks in the world. It’s a challenging circuit but it’s also a lot of fun to drive.”

Harvey added: “We had a bit of a mixed weekend and had some issues in qualifying, one which meant we weren’t able to show our true pace in that session. We got these problems ironed out by qualifying two and so started the qualifying race in 13th.

“I’m pretty happy with how the qualifying race went and the main race was going quite well too until I had by front wing tapped and it worked its way loose so I had to come in and pit.

“It was a real shame to end my race in the pits but I can still take away a lot of positives from my first race at Macau.”
