DISABLED youngsters were able to have a go at their own Paralympic games thanks to the efforts of a Kesteven area riding school.

Kesteven Rideability at Hough on the Hill, which provides horse riding for disabled people, celebrated the opening of the London 2012 Paralympic Games by holding their own version of some of the events on Thursday, on horse back.

There were nine children taking part aged between nine and 13, kicking off with an opening ceremony with Ryanna Hate riding her horse Spider and Emily Johnson on Roma carrying their version of the Paralympic flame. The children and their ponies then had a go at Rideability’s interpretation of the triathlon with synchronised hand gymnastics on horseback, 100m sprint, a ball throwing competition at a net. Louise Graham from Equestrian Life presented chocolate gold medals to everyone.
