Sleaford faced Nottingham Moderns at home on Sunday taking their ninth win in a row and their tenth out of 11 games.

The early part of the game didn’t start well for the home side who conceded an early try in the corner.

In the first 20 minutes the Moderns kept Sleaford pinned but didn’t make many in roads to the try line.

However, Sleaford woke up and the backs passed out to Bradley Roberts who made ground down, passed off in the tackle to Tom Kendall who barged his way past the full back and took his first try in Sleaford colours.

Sleaford’s second try was scored by Connor Todd.

The second-half saw a number of changes to the Sleaford team and an early Sam Cheek kick into the dead ball area saw Bradley Roberts score.

Two loose kicks from Nottingham saw Josh Watts return the ball across the lines for tries four and five, running where the opponents were more prolific in the fifth but still beating six players. The conversion was kicked by Ben Hitchcock.

Try six was a solo effort from Bradley Roberts running the ball out of the Sleaford half and not stopping until he had gone over the Nottingham try line.

The final score came from a set piece in Nottingham’s last quarter enabling Sam Cheek to break through the gain line.

Sleaford take on Nottingham Corsairs in the Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire and Derby Cup on Sunday.
