Sleaford blitz Woodhall Spa

A SUPERB bowling performance from Garry Park helped Sleaford 1st XI leapfrog over Saturday’s opponents Woodhall Spa into fourth place in the Lincolnshire ECB Premier League.

Sleaford started the game at Woodhall’s Jubilee Park a point behind their hosts but after Park had ripped through the home batting to claim a match haul of eight wickets for 36 runs the visitors were left with a relatively modest target for the victory that saw them move up the table.

Batting first, Woodhall struggled for runs from the off in the face of good opening spells from Alex Sears and Sam Burrows, who bowled well without much luck and kept the run rate to just two an over.

A bowling change brought on Park, who, in only his second over, claimed a hat-trick. He then picked up three wickets in four deliveries in his penultimate over and took two more scalps with consecutive balls in his next over to bring the innings to a close and lave him on another hat-trick.

As well has his eight wickets, Park also accounted for another of the home batsmen with a direct hit run out.

Woodhall were dismissed for 133 off 41.5 overs, with Milgate, batting at seven, top scoring on 47 and number three Evison remaining undefeated on 37.

And Park wasn’t only the star with the ball, he also hit a good 51 to help Sleaford to 136 for four and a six wicket victory. He was ably supported by Chris Morris, who went on to score 33 not out.

n This Saturday, Sleaford 1st XI are at home to Bracebridge Heath. The game starts at noon.
