SLEAFORD Tennis Club ladies’ team opened their first season in Division Two of the Lincolnshire Ladies’ Doubles League with a hard-fought victory over Eastgate, Lincoln in a rain affected match.

The match was played on Sleaford’s newly laid courts at Boston Road. The weather was very stormy and play was on and off all afternoon.

Due to the dreadful conditions only two rounds were completed but Sleaford fought hard and secured an excellent 5-1 win.

This was a great start for them in their first season in Division Two and the ladies now look forward to their next match against Grimsby on Saturday.

The Sleaford team that played against Eastgate were: Rebecca Stone and Jeanette Turland; Kathy Kinnard and Ros Keane; Jenny Stone and Chris Loakes.
