Town's new chairman says club heading in right direction

SLEAFORD Town Football Club's new chairman Tony Farrow has issued a rallying call to all football fans in the area. Tony is hoping to bring more fans in to watch home games at Eslaforde Park.

After a board re-shuffle Tony found himself at the helm and told the Standard: "The manager Brian Rowland needed help after some of the board resigned. After a meeting two weeks ago, I was elected chairman.

"I have always loved football and to be asked was a bit of an eye-opener and also an honour because this club is really moving forward in the right direction."

With the new season starting in just over a month's time, attention can now turn to pre-season preparations.

Training is due to start tonight (Wednesday) at the club and, after cementing their place in the Eagle Bitter United Counties Premier League last season, there will be hopes the team can build on that and make a push up the table.

Tony joked: "I've been looking at a few figures and there are about 15,000 people in the Sleaford area, so it would be fantastic to welcome 14,999 fans to join me for matches next season! But realistically I hope some more fans will come down and support the Town's team.

"For just 4 entry into the ground it's good value and there will be some cracking matches to enjoy this season.

"There are so many people who want to play for the club and we will be looking at players as well. We have work to do in the pre-season and I have already met with Brian Rowland to discuss plans for the new season.

"We will be aiming as high as we can in the league and hopefully go from strength to strength. I believe the club has a good future."

*Sleaford Town FC will play Lincoln City at Sincil Bank in a pre-season friendly on July 19.
