A LOCAL band consisting of members of staff from North Kesteven District Council are set to battle it out at Lincs FM’s Battle of the Bands competition on August 14.

Council officers Andrew Cotton, Eric Hubbert, Mick Gadd and Rik Gray form The Lost Property All Stars – a blues/rock ‘n’ roll quartet based in the district.

They are hoping to wow the audience and judges alike at the Tyrwhitt Arms-based competition.

When not working hard at the council the band play gigs across Lincolnshire, as well as charity events for LIVES First Responders.

The final will be on Saturday August 25 and if The Lost Property All Stars are lucky enough to win, their winning song will be played on Lincs FM. The band will also receive a studio session at Boston College of Music and Performing Arts.

Rik Gray, who works in IT at the council, plays drums (and the occasional cow bell) and says: “Although we’re in it to win it, it’s really the taking part that counts. It certainly makes a bit of a change from binary code and fixing computers!”

Lead guitarist Andrew Cotton encourages everyone to turn out and support them on the night, saying: “It promises to be a great evening if you like a bit of live music, and it’s a good chance to support local talent – so come along to the Tyrwhitt Arms and cheer us on!”
