THROUGHOUT September artist Elaine Thompson will be exhibiting a large selection of her pyrography work at The Natural World Centre, Whisby.
Elaine produces interior pictures and large carvings out of irregular shaped wooden panels of British hardwoods. All of her work is inspired by wildlife and her designs are integrated into the natural grain of the wood.
Elaine said: “It is interesting to see the wealth of shapes and colours in the wood of different types of tree. The curved lines of the grains in the wood suggest natural subjects, so most of my work features birds, animals, trees, plants and landscapes, and for this exhibition I have worked mostly on trees, drawing tree shapes that integrate into the natural patterns in the wood.”
All of Elaine’s work is for sale, so if you are looking for a unique piece of artwork to feature in your home or want to buy something nice for a loved one, this may just be what you’re looking for.
Elaine will be at the centre on Sunday, September 16 from 11am to 4pm, providing demonstrations of her work and offering little snippets of advice.
