RAF man Gary Stevens' big band venture kicks off at Spalding's South Holland Centre

Last year Sleaford man Gary Stevens retired as Warrant Officer and Bandmaster of Band of the Royal Air Force College and now begins his next musical venture, a house band.

After serving for 38 years in Royal Air Force Music Services Gary will perform for the first time next weekend. “An Evening with Matt Ford and the Gary Stevens House Band” will take place on July 29 at The South Holland Centre in Spalding.

Gary is set to proudly present ‘The Gary Stevens House Band’ which features top jazz and big band players from all over the UK. Gary’s career with the RAF began in 1977, and since then Gary has served with The Central Band of the Royal Air Force, along with the Band of the Royal Air Force Germany.

He has performed as principal trombonist and soloist in events throughout British history such as Queen Mothers 90 and 100th birthday celebrations, and at the Queen’s Golden and Diamond jubilee.

Matt Ford is one of the UK’s top big band singers and performs regularly at events such as Royal Albert Hall Hollywood Proms. The concert will last 1 hour 50 minutes, and doors open at 7:30.
