Rock out at Sleaford Live 2016

Sleaford Live 2016 kicks off this week - the town's own festival of live music and arts - with venues all over town and beyond hosting special events.

The festival launches on April 29, rounding off on May 8.

Here we have the second half of the live events programme for readers to choose where to go. Most events are free apart from a few that you can book tickets to see.

Thursday May 5:

Electric Jive Open Night at The Legion, at 7.30pm (Free entry if carrying a Sleaford Live programme). Try modern jive with a friendly group of dancers. Bring a partner or come alone.

Codachrome at Millers Restaurant and Brasserie, 7.30pm.

600 Whiskys folk session live from The George Hotel, Leadenham, at 8pm. Acoustic music session. Free to sing, play or listen.

Friday May 6:

Pennyless live at Sleaford Playhouse, 8pm start. Folk trio Pennyless are Penny Stevens (vocals, fiddle), Les Woods (guitar) and Graham Dale (flute, whistle melodica and percussion). Tickets £10 from the website or from Chattertons Solicitors.

Viva - live in The Lounge Bar at the Legionnaires, 8.30pm. Outstanding boy/girl duo, featuring Gav Hardy on keyboards and vocals by Lena Hagstroem. Classical rock and pop.

The Rhythm Express Show, also featuring Mike Shelby and a Tribute to Elvis in Vegas, live from St George’s Academy Hall, 8.15pm-11.15pm. Various music from the past, including Elvis, The Beatles, Cliff Richard, Everly Brothers, Billy Fury, plus a few country tracks. Then Part 2 featuring the Tribute to Elvis. All with a seven piece show band. Chosen charity: Lincs Air Ambulance. Choirs Galore live from Riverside Church, 10am-2pm. Junior and adult choirs, with some dance.

Kesteven Morris Dancers performing in the Market Place at 11am.

Guitarmanjan live from Sleaford Museum, from 11am-2.30pm. Solo guitarist, classical to pop.

Solo Guitar Group at St Denys’ Church, from 12noon to 1pm. Ensemble of South Lincolnshire are a group of players of many ages and backgrounds. Admission Free.

Heckington Windmill, 12noon-5pm, local produce, real ale and local musicians Sleaford Ukulele Orchestra and Croagh Patrick.

Recorder workshop at Riverside Church, 2-4pm, with expert Kenneth Garfield.

Guitar workshop at The Source, 2-4pm. Guitar technique interactive workshop with tutor Julien Gash.

The Kilburns live at Millers Restaurant and Brasserie, 8pm. Local band playing contemporary and traditional music.
