Scandinavian bread techniques

SLEAFORD visitor attraction Cogglesford Watermill will be demonstrating country crafts, milling and summer baking this weekend in a seasonal celebration of traditional country life – with an international twist.

On Sunday August 5 Linda Hewett from Fulbeck Bread will be showing visitors to the mill how to combine home bread-making with garden produce to make the tastiest of summer breads.

Linda is an expert bread maker and demonstrator with many years’ experience and brings an international aspect to her craft.

Linda honed her baking skills while living in Norway for three years, picking up Scandinavian bread-making techniques. Following time spent in Cyprus, Linda’s baking is also influenced by Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cuisine.

Alongside the baking demonstrations, visitors will have the opportunity to watch demonstrations and take part in some country crafts, for example corn dollies, beautiful patch-work, rag rugs and lavender and wheat bags.

The mill, open between 11am and 4pm, will also be in action, producing wholemeal flour the traditional way throughout the day. Admission is free, but for health and safety reasons, young people and children aged 14 and under must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
