PREPARE to step back in time to the good old days this Bank Holiday weekend.

This year’s Rauceby 40’s Weekend, run by the Mid Lincs Military Vehicles Trust, will be held over Saturday, Sunday and Monday, August 25-27, and organiser William Elkington promises a vintage spectacle for all the family.

The event takes visitors back to the 1940s with the sights and sounds of World War Two. Among the attractions on offer, there will be military vehicle displays, living history displays, vintage and classic vehicles and a flypast by the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.

There will also be a staged battle each day in the arena.

For younger visitors there will be plenty of entertainment and activities, including an old fashioned funfair, motorised mini jeeps, grenade throwing and boot camp drills.

There will be plenty of food and refreshments available, with a NAAFI selling homemade sandwiches and cakes and a bar selling real ales and refreshments.

On the Saturday night there is a 1940’s swing dance, with music provided by Katie Lancaster and ENSA entertainer and DJ Paul Harper, all backed by the popular DJ Major Swing. This is a ticket only event and entry is £8. On Friday and Sunday night there will be free cabaret evenings for all to enjoy.

Entry to the Weekend is £5 per person per day, with under 12s, veterans and Military Vehicle Trust members admitted free. Car parking is also free.

For visitors coming from further afield, there is a camp site for tents, caravans and motor homes, which costs £3.50 per night or £10 for three or four nights.

This year’s Rauceby 40’s Weekend will be raising money for the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance, Royal British Legion and Marie Curie Cancer Care.
