The fifth and last semi-final of the hit ITV talent show saw Lucy and Trip pull off another brilliantly cute performance based on Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, which had the live audience and viewers in the palm of their hand and the judges loved it, particularly Simon Cowell.

But the public vote saw impressionist Craig Ball win through and then the judges had to choose the second person they would put through, eventually going for teenage singer Jasmine Elcock.

David Williams said: “Tonight I fell in love with a dog, I vote for Trip Hazard.”

Alesha Dixon felt more emotionally invested in Jasmine, Amanda Holden loved both but opted for Jasmine.

Finally Simon Cowell, amid deafening calls from the audience, said he was thankful there was still a chance with the public wild card vote. He said: “Don’t hate me for this, this person did something much better than they did first audition.” he awarded the place to Jasmine.

But it wasn’t all over as immediately after the show the voting lines opened for viewers to vote for which of the five ‘wild card’ acts from all five semi-finals should also go through to the final on Saturday night.

The voting lines closed at 11pm and the show organisers have just announced via social media that Lucy and Trip has won through.

On social media many disagreed with the result, feeling that Lucy and Trip had put on the better performance, including commentary from OK magazine.
