Chestnut Street primary school in Ruskington threw themselves into the festivities for World Book Day, encouraging the children to come in costumes of their favourite book characters, with the staff also joining in dressing up.

The pupils read stories together for much of the day, then later the Year Six class visited the Early Years children and read stories to them.

Then at the end of the day, the whole school came together to enjoy a Book Day ball and had great fun at a disco to round off the day.

Each child bought in £1 to take part and altogether, World Book Day raised over £300 which will go towards revamping the school’s reading area.
