A pair of psychics from the Sleaford area have been on a TV trip of a lifetime, despite one suffering from illness and having to drop out early.
Grace G. Laycy, of Helpringham, and Rachel Mansfield, of Sleaford, met when Grace moved to Lincolnshire in January last year and needed Rachel’s husband, a plumber to do some work.
They discovered they had a common interest. Both fans of Channel Four game show Coach Trip they had applied to go through the auditions.
Grace said: “The programme makers are always looking for people with interesting jobs or lifestyles and our coach load was a real mixture.
The week-long series was filmed in Croatia and Bosnia in August and features seven ‘couples’ vying to stay on the coach by doing challenges and being appealing enough not to get voted off by their fellow travellers. The party is led by the larger than life tour guide Brendan but it was no holiday according to Grace.
She said: “It was hectic with a lot of filming and not a lot of leisure time so it wasn’t that much of a holiday, but it is more of an experience.”
Aired on TV a week ago. Grace and Rachel had to bow out by the Thursday as Grace had been feeling unwell with sunstroke and dehydration.
Grace said “I didn’t want to go, but I just knew I couldn’t keep up and would spoil it for the others. You are very much a team and no-one wants to vote each other off. We were gutted to go but I felt that ill.”
A highlight was staying at the Radisson Blue hotel which she said was three days of pure luxury prior to the coach trip starting.
Another day the party had to go mountain climbing, something Grace was glad she tried, despite strugging. “For me it was huge,” she said.
“I had an absolute ball. It was amazing and I went to places I probably never would have gone too. Brendan is just the same on and off camera, it’s not an act.”
