Gary’s latest outlet is his most ambitious yet offering a classic butcher’s shop experience to customers and so much more as part of the multi-million pound redevelopment of Pennells Garden Centre in South Hykeham, near Lincoln.

Having opened on April 1, the store has a space-age feel about it with clean lines and specialised lighting along the 80 feet of counter space.

Gary said: “We want people to have the confidence of going to their local butcher’s shop and getting advice and help with their meat needs in modern facilities. We will have the traditional cuts on offer, but then we will be able to introduce them to a whole range of exciting and contemporary products they may not have tried before.”

Gary now has six stores across Lincolnshire after starting life as a first generation butcher in Heckington in 2000 adding premises in Sleaford, Spalding, Stamford, Lincoln and now Pennells.

Simpson’s are totally re-designing the Heckington store from May 9, which when complete will boast a new, high-tech dry ageing cabinet so customers can specify the age of meat they require for superior flavoursome cuts.

“We’re proud that our ethos of quality and choice has seen us succeed not only against the might of the supermarkets but also other butchers who have been in the business for generations,” said Gary.

Simpsons’ membership of the prestigious Q Guild of Butchers is a sign of excellence and in the last two years it has won and retained its title as the Meat Trade Journal’s East Midlands Butchers Shop of the Year and is the reigning Lincolnshire Poacher Champion Butcher after picking up the most points overall for its products last October.
