Heckington-based Heritage Lincolnshire has announced a new programme of free, adult education courses focussing on history and heritage.

The GROW programme, as funded by Lincolnshire County Council, includes Understanding Abbeys and Priories - a two-session course starting on February 12 from 6.30-9.30pm.

The course looks at the growth of monasticism in England from the early days of Augustine to its 13th century climax and the policy changes of Henry VIII that brought about their dissolution.

Join Dave Start to investigate the layout of the monastic buildings and learn about the many different orders who once inhabited them.

Then, on March 5, again from 6.30-9.30pm, Gary Taylor will speak about the local connections and memorials to the Battle of Arnhem. Many troops were stationed in the area and transported from its airfields.

Both courses are to be held at the Old School, in Cameron Street, Heckington.
