Digby musician Dave Gray will be playing with Världens Band in Lincoln on Thursday, October 23.

He has been having an exciting time recently, touring with the band in Sweden.

Performing in front of 10,000 people at Stockholm Folk Festival, in August, is an experience he will long remember.

Dave attended Coteland’s School, Ruskington, then Carre’s Grammar School, Sleaford before taking a Music Degree course at Newcastle University.

The 14 musicians in Världens Band (Swedish for world band) come from seven countries. They first joined forces in Sweden, in 2012, to share the folk music from their separate countries. The band has toured Sweden over the past two years giving concerts and workshops at festivals, schools and universities. Band members from India, Africa, Scandinavia, France and the UK each contribute their own musical heritage. Swedish polskas meet Scottish reels, English folk guitar accompanies Indian classical song, Galician pipes play Balkan melodies and Mediterranean rhythms mix with the Senegalese kora. The result is a unique and exciting blend of culture, personality and musical style.

This is the final concert of their UK tour and is at the Terry O’Toole Theatre, North Hykeham. Tickets are £12 (£10 concessions) and £5 for under 26s.
