A Sleaford band inspired by the likes of The Beatles and The Jam will play their first gig at Darmon’s Bar next month.
The Mayburns are made up of Mark Ward on bass guitar, Sam Milton on vocals, Ryan Newman on guitar and Aiden Betts on drums.
Their name is inspired by The Mabern, which used to be a popular club in Sleaford Market Place in the 1960s.
Mark said: “We all feel the live music scene in Sleaford has faded away since local bands such as 0.7s called it a day a few years back.
“We’re hoping to shake things up and bring back a real live music scene to Sleaford.”
The band was started two years ago by Mark and Sam.
Mark said: “Sam had the words and needed the tunes, I had the tunes but needed words.”
They wrote their first two songs together Wasting Away (It’s Not All About) and State of Mind.
Ryan and Aiden then joined the band, completing the line up of The Mayburns.
Other songs they have written include Our Time Has Come, and Stay On Your Side, which can be found on Soundcloud.
Mark said: “We didn’t have a plan other than to do what we love the most and that’s writing and making music.
“The best feeling is turning ideas and feelings into songs, and with Ryan and Aiden we’ve been able to bring these songs to life as well as having two great musicians who have made everything fall into place.”
Their first will be at Lincoln hospital sports and social club, in St Anne’s Road, on Saturday, April 8.
Tickets are priced at £10 available from Shane Kelly by calling 07585 327280.
Doors open at 7.30pm, and there is music until about 11.30pm.
There is music from tribute band Noasis and support from The Mayburns.
