A young actor trod the boards at the old primary school where he first found a passion for performing on Friday.

James Osman, 19, was playing Baloo the bear and Shere Khan the tiger in M and M Theatrical Productions’ version of The Jungle Book at Heckington St Andrew’s Primary School.

James and his family moved to East Heckington from Leeds and attended Heckington primary school for six years.

Now a full-time actor as well as being a musician and performance poet, this is James’ first tour with the company which he joined in February. The eight month school tour sees them performing adaptations of classic literature and he ended up at his old school where he caught up with familiar faces including teaching assistant Pat Mellor (pictured).

Previously James has performed on the Royal Shakespeare Theatre stage in a programme for BBC2 and BBC3, the Ambassador’s Theatre in the West End and did a youth theatre show at the Speaker’s House in the Houses of Parliament.

Commenting on being back home he said: “It is fantastic and surreal, but really good. The school hasn’t changed much, but everything seems a bit smaller now.”
