Our photo two weeks ago of the book fair at Mrs Mary King’s School in Martin jogged the memory of retired headteacher Joan Riding, who organised the event.

She recalls: “I was head there for 10 years and worked there for 30. We had the book week every year and the school library service would come in to read to the classes. I organised a well known author and illustrator to come in too.”
