We reported last week that Sue Thorpe of Ruskington had rescued some old family albums from her late mother-in-law Jean Pask’s home in Handley Street when she died. She was hoping a relative of Mrs Pask might read about the albums and want to claim them.
In a second attempt, she has singled out a photo of Sgt C. H. George, whose family apparently lived in Drake Street, Lincoln, at the time it was taken, although had Sleaford family connections.
Mrs Thorpe has also found and brought in the medal bar seen on his RAF uniform in the photo, accompanied by a card to say that he was mentioned in despatches in the London Gazette on June 14, 1945 for distinguished service.
The card continues: “I am charged to record His Majesty’s (the King) high appreciation,” signed by Harold Macmillan - Secretary of State for Air.
