The time at St Andrew’s Church, in Heckington, may soon be a-changin’ with steps being taken to restart the building’s clock.
Church authorities are currently waiting to see how much it will cost to fix the clock, which is stopped at four o’clock. It would see experts abseil down the spire to examine the hands, before undertaking the necessary repairs.
Church warden Michael Cullen said: “It will be quite a dramatic moment when this is done. We are currently waiting for a quote for the necessary work and are, of course, hoping that the job isn’t going to be a major one.”
The clock has had its moments in recent years, the most dramatic being when the spire was struck by lightning a few years back, scarring the clock face.
