Another fall in district’s Jobseeker’s Allowance count

The number of people claiming Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA) in North Kesteven has fallen again, figures released today (Wednesday, November 12) reveal.

The district’s claimant count fell slightly during October, dropping by seven to 769, according to the data from the Office for National Statistics.

It is the ninth monthly fall in a row for the district and forms part of a longer downward trend in the figure.

In October 2013, the count stood at 1,103, while in October 2012 it was 1,405.

The fall was not enough to change the proportion of people of a working age claiming JSA in the district - 1.2 per cent.

The regional and national average fell by 0.1 per cent to 2.0 per cent and 2.1 per cent respectively in the same time period.
