An enterprising mother and daughter from Ancaster have formed a new business networking group for traders.
Ladey and Abbirose Adey have launched The Selling Network with the help of South Kesteven District Council working with the Lincolnshire Chamber of Commerce.
Their group had its first meeting at Belton Woods Hotel near Grantham, working with council-funded Aimee Holland to develop their business ideas, website and social media communications.
Mum Ladey’s previous networking franchise, was stalled by the recession but since moving to Lincolnshire six years ago she has wanted to start again, this time improving the networking scene to make support business people to make those sales.
“I encouraged my daughter, who was thinking of starting her own business encouraging self esteem in children, to join me on a three day course in London run by American guru, Loral Langemeier, for would-be entrepreneurs,” said Ladey. “It was highly geared towards success, making sales and making money. We were inspired.”
“The Selling Network is a very participatory and invigorating network, using workshop style approach for business people to practice their pitches, offers and sales techniques in a safe place and learn to be comfortable about calling themselves experts in their field.”
The Selling Network will have a members’ area on its website and inclusion into a Facebook Group to help put lessons learnt into practice.
Regarding the involvement of her daughter Abbirose, Ladey added: “Never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined being in business with my daughter. It is wonderful.”
And there has been praise for the Selling Network from Aimee Holland who said: “It was fantastic to be at the launch of the Selling Network. Ladey and Abbirose were very enthusiastic hosts and the energy in the room was fantastic. What a very different way to showcase your business!
“I would strongly encourage people who are serious about business giving this event a trial.”
The next Selling Network business meetings continue with themes focussing on how to improve your business sales and take place on Tuesdays, 21 July, 11 August, 9 September and October 13.
They start at 8.30am for breakfast followed by a two-hour event from 9-11am am with the theme – ‘You can attract more customers and make those sales’.
