Heckington Parish Council has been commended for its sensitive restoration and conversion of the building housing its new chambers, community rooms and library.
Heckington Village Trust chairman Andy Garlick presented the Certificate of Architectural merit to chairman of the council Jan Palmer.
The award was in recognition of their adherence to original historic design in converting Church House on St Andrew’s Street from an old derelict building into a visually attractive, useful and practical public amenity.
The award had been the idea of Sandra Sardeson when working with village trust secretary Pat Banister on research into the history of the parish church, to promote more interest in the appearance of the village. The award goes to any person or organisation who in the trust’s opinion had contributed to the appearance, heritage or history of the village.
