Sleaford Leisure Centre celebrated its first anniversary by giving out a special swimming scholarship.
Billy Camm, of Carre’s Grammar School, Sleaford, picked up the award after impressing during his lessons at Swim School through the Northgate school.
When the youngsters started out just five weeks ago he could muster just five metres in the pool, but has now managed 25 metres.
This was enough to impress Swim School principal Caroline Castro to give him the scholarship.
He can now expect to receive one-to-one training sessions.
General manager of the centre, run by 1Life, Natalie Wood said Billy had made great progress and she hoped his confidence in the water would continue to grow.
A delighted Billy collected the award in front of fellow pupils.
He said he enjoys going to the training sessions and also likes swimming while on holiday.
