Reception classes at William Alvey Primary School culminated their Chinese New Year celebrations with a Chinese banquet provided for free by the Open Kitchen take away in Sleaford.
The banquet on the last day of term saw the children try egg fried rice, sweet and sour chicken, prawn crackers, spring rolls and chicken chow mein. They were also given a fortune cookie to take home. The children and staff would like to thank the Open Kitchen for making their Chinese New Year celebrations extra special.
The children have learnt about China. They made paper lanterns, copied Chinese writing and learnt some dragon dances. They listened to Chinese music and accompanied a song with cymbals and bells. They wrote dragon poems and even tried to use chopsticks to pick up objects which was quite tricky.
