A health walk programme in North Kesteven is a finalist in a national awards scheme celebrating efforts to keep people fit and well ... again.
North Kesteven Social Strollers has been shortlisted for an honour in the Go Outdoors category of the 2015 ukactive and Matrix Flame Awards.
Last year, it made the final in the same category.
The awards aim to celebrate organisations shaping the future of physical activity in the UK and acknowledge small-to-large fitness facilities, outdoor fitness providers, suppliers, innovations and individuals committed to getting more people, more active, more often.
Scheme co-ordinator Carly Togher said: “We are really pleased to be recognised for such prestigious award. Having been selected for the second year in a row, it really shows that the scheme is making a positive impact in the local community.
“Our thanks should go to our volunteers as without their help and continued support, the scheme would not exist.”
The winners will be announced at the ukactive and Matrix Flame Awards night at The International Centre, Telford, on June 24.
David Stalker, chief executive officer of ukactive, one of the UK’s leading not-for-profit health bodies for the physical activity sector, said: “With hundreds of nominees vying for these prestigious awards, being confirmed as a finalist is a significant achievement in itself.
“As such, I would like to congratulate every finalist who has reached this stage.
“The assessment process is well known for being exceptionally rigorous and the standard keeps getting better with every year.
“We are looking forward to celebrating with all the finalists and seeing who takes away the honours at the awards night.”
