A couple that run a snack bar on Sleaford’s Boston Road Recreation Ground are to open for business on Christmas Day - but it’s all for charity.
Steve and Steph Fields, who run Tea In The Park, will be opening from 11am until 3pm offering hot and cold drinks and snacks in return for a donation to the NSPCC.
Mr Fields said: “We did the same thing last year, letting people know via Facebook and opening up on Christmas Day and inviting donations to charity instead of taking any payment. We will be selling tea, coffee, hot chocolate, biscuits, sweets and crisps.
“Last year we made £93.70. We take nothing, not even for costs, it is all for the charity which we chose as it is for children at Christmas time.”
Mr Fields went on: “Last year we had pretty much all sorts come along, from dog walkers to families coming over to the park with their new pushbikes and skateboards. We were quite surprised last year at how many people came over.”
He admitted: “To be honest I get a bit bored sitting around indoors eating chocolates at Christmas so this is a much better way to spend it.”
