The A15 between Holdingham roundabout and Osbournby has been closed to traffic since 5.38am this morning (Friday) due to a lorry fire.
A lorry towing two trailers loaded with straw bales caught fire between Silk Willoughby and Osbournby and the driver pulled into the lay by at Silk Willoughby to raise the alarm.
Police and three fire crews, from Sleaford, Billingborough and Donington plus a water carrier from Holbeach, attended the scene and allowed the trailer carrying 24 tonnes of straw on fire to burn out under supervision while the driver took his remaining trailer to the raw burning power station at Sleaford. Firefighters used hoses to damp down and drags to helpspread out the burning embers to be extinguished.
The incident is ongoing and the road was expected to be closed for some time with diversions put in place by highways staff.
