The Rotary Club is Sleaford has welcomed John Elkington as its new president.
He takes over from Stephen Bath, who at the recently-held annual presidential handover spoke of his pride in being part of a club that has achieved so much in helping those in need – both overseas and closer to home.
The club had donated £20,000 to such causes as relief following the earthquake in Nepal, polio eradication in India, the Philippines typhoon appeal, the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance, the Royal British Legion, the Royal Yachting Association’s Sailability initiative, and youth projects aimed at local primary and secondary schools.
A spokesman for the club said: “All ages had been catered for throughout the year and none of this could have been achieved without the wonderful support from the Sleaford public, with their generous contributions to the fundraising events.”
Mr Bath thanked all members for their support at the handover ceremony, going on to award a Paul Harris Fellowship – the highest honour a club can bestow on a member – to Rotorians John Elkington and Norry Bell, for service to the club.
